Privacy Policy
Who we are
Pick My Ride is a car-recommendation app operated from India. For the purposes of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, we are the Data Fiduciary for the personal data described here. Reach us at [email protected].
What we collect
In the app: your interview answers (budget, city, monthly running, fuel preference, and for the electric path your charging access and the longest run you need), any free-text notes you write, saved cars, app settings such as theme and haptics, and whether you hold a pass. If you sign in, we also hold the phone number or Google account email you signed in with. On the website: if you join the waitlist we collect your name, your email address, and your phone number if you choose to give one.
What we do not collect
No location, no contacts, no advertising identifiers, no browsing history, and no analytics or tracking of any kind. We do not sell your personal data. We do not pass it to dealers, insurers, lenders, or manufacturers.
How your data is used
Your answers rank cars for you, and the ranking is computed on your device. Your pass status unlocks the paid screens. Your waitlist details are used to tell you when the app launches, and for nothing else.
Who else processes it
Running the service means other companies handle some of this data on our behalf. Supabase stores the database and manages sign-in. MSG91 delivers the SMS code when you sign in by phone. Cloudflare runs the bot check on the website form and receives your IP address. Resend delivers the waitlist notification to us and receives your name, email and phone. Razorpay, the Apple App Store and Google Play handle payments. Google Fonts serves the website typefaces and receives your IP address. Separately, the app fetches car photographs from Wikimedia Commons and headlines from Google News: those services see your IP address the way any website you visit does, and receive nothing about you or your answers.
Where it lives
Your answers and settings are stored on your device. If you sign in, your shortlist and answers also sync to our database, which is hosted in Supabase’s Mumbai region (ap-south-1) in India. Data is encrypted in transit.
How long we keep it
Account data is kept until you delete your account, and goes immediately when you do. Waitlist details are kept until the app launches and for twelve months after that, or until you ask us to remove them, whichever comes first.
Payments
In the app, purchases are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play. On the web they are processed by Razorpay, our Indian payment gateway - we pass Razorpay your email address so it can send you a receipt, and Razorpay handles the payment under its own privacy policy. Either way we never see or store your card, UPI, or bank details.
Your rights (DPDP Act, 2023)
You can correct any answer at any time from within the app. You can delete your account and everything we hold from Profile, at any moment: it removes your synced data, your profile and your sign-in identity from our servers, and clears everything stored on your device. It is immediate and irreversible. If you joined the waitlist but never made an account, email [email protected] to see or delete what we hold. You may also nominate someone to exercise these rights if you are unable to, and you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Children
Pick My Ride is not directed at children under 18. Car purchase decisions are for licensed adults.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the app will tell you before the change applies. Continued use after notice means acceptance.
Contact and grievances
Data questions, requests and complaints: [email protected]. That address reaches a person who can answer questions about how your data is handled and act on your rights under the DPDP Act, and we will reply as quickly as we can. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
